Established in 2018, Let’s Do More CIC, is a socially inspired organisation, which uses sport as a means to engage, empower and raise the aspiration of young people living in some of the most deprived communities in Leeds. Since 2019, basketball has become our flagship sport and the LDM Basketball programme engages over 200 young people each week in basketball activity across multiple communities in Leeds.

Lets Do More (Basketball)
August 9, 2021 @ 12:00 am - December 18, 2021 @ 11:59 pm

The LDM Basketball programme is designed to provide basketball opportunities to players from all backgrounds and experiences, providing a pathway to the elite level of the game for those who aspire to pursue this. We have 6 teams competing in the English Junior National League and work in partnership with Leeds City College, to run a basketball academy for players aged 16-19, providing aspiring athletes an opportunity to mix basketball alongside studying an academic qualification.
OUR CAUSES
With buzzer beating three pointers, fast paced end-to-end action and a family friendly atmosphere, few sports can capture the imagination like basketball. Basketball’s ease of access has made it the sport of choice for many young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds across the country. It is the second most popular sport in the world, behind football, and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport named basketball the second most played sport in the UK for 11 to 15 year olds.
Over a third of basketball players in the UK are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, which is a higher participation rate than average, as the basketball court provides a release from the harsh realities of inner-city life. The inclusive and diverse nature of basketball encourages community cohesion in areas where barriers to regular exercise are numerous.
