We will be offering an holistic approach service that is centred around young people from the Black, Asian & ethnic minority background. Our project is aimed at working with any young person from a young age up to 18 years old that is displaying needs for help in their emotional and personal well-being. We will be working closely in the community to reduce the stigma around mental health and make agencies aware on how they can be more accessible to meet cultural needs.
We will be taking referrals from internal projects, local primary and high schools and other local agencies. All young people that are referred will do an initial assessment and then from there we will decide whether they need intensive 1-1 support or just general support. From there if the young person chooses to work with ourselves we will put together a support plan that is tailored to suit their individual needs. This may mean referring to other agencies or services that can provide more appropriate support whilst working alongside them. We will also be running different workshops with young people and parents/careers on raising awareness around mental health & emotional well-being and breaking down the stigma in the different communities. It will also give them an opportunity to have an understanding of the different services they can access. We also will be work closely with Leeds City Council who are “Child Friendly City”. We work towards their initiative to help make Leeds a child friendly city and will also help meet their targets.
